Bucks County Interior Designer Able to Find Oriental Rug for Her Project Through Brandon Oriental Rugs (www.BrandonRugs.com)

We were asked by an interior designer, whose business serves Bucks and Montgomery counties and other areas of southeastern Pennsylvania, to assist her on a small project by finding a "custom size" oriental rug to complete a hallway. The rug had to be 4'x8'; geometric or rustic in style; and had to coordinate with existing wallpaper that covered the walls above the wainscoting.

What she believed to be a "custom size" rug is actually an available standard size in real, hand-knotted oriental rugs. Room arrangements in traditional Middle Eastern and Iranian homes require rugs which are placed at the ends of a large main carpet in the room; and which are usually twice as long as they are wide (e.g: 4x8, 5x10, 6x12). They are called kellegis.

Brandon Oriental Rugs (www.BrandonRugs.com) was able to find the rug shown here - a 4x8 Persian Bidjar design kellegi made in India - to satisfy the requirements of the designer's project, and to provide her client with the look and quality that no machine made carpet or imitation oriental rug could possibly offer.

Doylestown, PA Homeowner Finds Oriental Rug to Complete Furnishing of Family Room with Help From Brandon Oriental Rugs - www.BrandonRugs.com

Our customer, who discovered Brandon Oriental Rugs via an internet search, invited us to help her find a rug to complete her recently refurnished family room.

She has two small children (one a toddler) and wanted her rug to be durable; resistant to dirt and stains; easy to keep clean; and soft to the touch (to assure soft landings for her toddler). She had already done a lot of research online about area rugs; and had tried some selections from other sources which turned out to lack the quality she wanted. By the time she engaged our services she knew that only a real, hand-knotted oriental rug would do; though she wasn't sure exactly what kind or style would be most suitable for her.
Initially she thought a 9x12 rug would be best for the room, but pictures shared with us suggested that a 10x14 deserved consideration too: an idea to which she was open provided it did not explode her budget. The following "before" and "after" pictures demonstrate what the patience and resolve she brought to her rug search enabled her to accomplish.

BEFORE: our customer's family room prior to installation of her rug. The stone
of the fireplace and the leather were the color cues we were asked to honor.

An image of the rug which was selected from among eight others after
two presentations in our customer's home: a 10x14 hand-knotted
Persian Tabriz design rug made in India.

AFTER: Our customer's room beautifully finished with the rug
she chose from among all others.

Another picture of the completed room showing how the rug unites the elements
of the seating group; and makes the family room much more inviting to the family.

Two presentations in our customer's home with rugs of various sizes, styles and colorways were necessary to help her and her husband decide on the rug seen here. While some of the other ideas presented had merit, this rug really stood out as "made for the room".
(After more than twenty-five years involved in rugs and interior design, we've learned not to doubt the adage believed by many of the venerable older Persian rug importers that "every handmade rug finds its rightful home at last."  We congratulate our customer for her selection, and for recognizing the moment when one rug from among all those available to her turned out to have arrived at its true home.)

Lehigh Valley Homeowner ( Bethlehem, PA ) with Help From Bucks County Oriental Rug Store Brandon Oriental Rugs - www.BrandonRugs.com - Finds a Handmade Area Rug to Complete Family Room

The rug shown here was selected to complete a family room in a Bethlehem, PA home, which had been completely furnished (except for the rug) by the homeowners with help from their designer at Hendrixson's Fine Furnishings (Furlong, PA and Shimersville,PA).

Antique Reproduction Persian Tabriz Design Rug (India 14/70)

The panel field design -- almost patchwork or quilt-like in conception -- imparted less formality to the rug, making it a relaxed fit with the fine leather furnishings. The finely knotted detail in the rug (approximately 210 hand-tied knots/square inch), and it's authentic antique reproduction finishing, appealed to the refined tastes of the homeowners seeking to make quality decisions at every step in the furnishing of their new home.

The rug size selected (approximately 9x12) allowed for an open walkway on the left side of the rug (leading to French doors opening to the patio); and for the sofa and love seat to be properly positioned (the same distance in on their respective borders) without encroaching into the field design. (The rug is also centered in the room between the far wall and the wall behind the love-seat; comfortably offset from the hearth and providing ample room on the far side of the rug for a luxurious bed to accommodate the family's best friend.)

[     This rug was selected by the homeowners after a process which began when they were referred to us by their designer. We subsequently visited their home to get an idea of what they had accomplished already, and what they were seeking to do with the introduction of a rug. Based on that visit and a discussion of their objectives, we collected a number of rugs from our many sources and made them available for preview at our store. Our customers then visited our store, and chose several rugs they really liked from the selections we had made on their behalf. We then delivered them to their home for them to evaluate for appropriateness in conjunction with what was already in place in their room. From those choices, the rug you see above was decided upon, and has become a treasured part of their home.

Brandon Oriental Rugs is committed to making this same level of service available to all of our customers. This commitment sets us apart from stores that seek to rush you to a decision, whether based on a limited-time offer, or on the challenges presented to you by the store's limited offers of service.]

Real Hand-knotted Rug to Anchor Renovation of Multi-Use Room: An Ideabook

"Begin with the end in mind" Stephen Covey

We've been asked by an interior design company in Bucks County, PA to assist in finding a "transitional style" rug to integrate other decisions regarding color and accessorization of a small multi-use room. The desire to establish the room with a neutral color rug -- preferably gray -- has been expressed.

Based upon the floor plan (see below), two rug-sizes are proposed for consideration: 8x10 and 8x8 square. 8x10, a standard size for hand-knotted rugs, offers a wide range of selections. 8x8 square, less common, is nonetheless an option; with several pieces available that are oriented toward the project's goals.
