Don't Suffer Identity Theft Because of Fashion Tyranny and the Spirit of the Times

At Brandon Oriental Rugs (the rug specialty store in Bucks County, PA) we specialize in REAL handmade oriental rugs, and services tailored to homeowners and their designers who are seeking the best of what is available in fine quality rugs at the best possible prices.

Considering the monotony of low quality rug choices available online and in stores, our customers are demanding something different from "that". Though harder to find, and less readily available than ever before, our customers want artisan quality rugs: traditionally crafted yet unique.

If the statements below -- which we hear all the time from our customers -- sound like what you are thinking as you consider purchasing a fine rug for your home, please give Brandon Oriental Rugs a call, or arrange a visit, to discuss how we can make the rug you want to see actually appear on your floor:

"I am tired of that common look."

"Those contempo rugs that look like someone spilled a can of paint on them do NOT interest me."

"I don't want a rug that looks like it came from Renovation Hardware or Home Depot, or got delivered by Amazon or any of all those other websites offering the same programmed look."

"I don't want a rug that looks like that jumble of junk you see on the first three pages of every internet rug site."

"If it is something that looks like I could buy it out of a catalog, I'll pass."

"I've spent a lot of time and money to create a uniquely personal interior design environment in my home. I do NOT want a rug that looks like everyone else can have it."
"If it is being promoted to everyone else as "fashionable" and "au courant", don't even talk to me about it."

"If it has an SKU associated with it, don't even mention it to me. I'm one-of-a-kind; I only buy one-of-a-kind."

Dare to Be Different When Choosing a Fine Quality Handmade Area Rug

You want to put something outstanding on the floors of your home; not something commonplace.

You've been looking at the challenge for a long time, but are not sure about the next step.

Crowds can be found everywhere, including fashion for your home.

(A crowd is not where you want to be; especially when you are trying to express your individuality.)

Unfortunately an attitude of "one size/one style fits all" has overtaken the marketplace. "NEW" products all seem alike. This is evident too with handmade oriental rug production. Traditionally distinctive, high quality hand-knotted rugs are being tossed aside for product resembling wall-to-wall carpet. Rug after rug is imbued with unimaginative monotony, and mass-market commonality.

"Looks" that seemed unique, edgy and interesting yesterday, last year (or five years ago) are oppressively commonplace now. With so much looking all the same, rug-lovers, rug-collectors, rug-aficionados are again feeling the urge to find unique alternatives to what everybody has.

As a specialty rug store in business over twenty-five years, Brandon Oriental Rugs - BrandonRugs.com - has witnessed all of the trends and style shifts for more than a quarter century. Through every "seismic shift in fashion", the prevailing trend in floor coverings has continued to be an embrace of traditional quality found in handmade rugs crafted in original styles with traditional colors, materials and techniques. "There's nothing like the REAL thing."

There's a First Step to Every Process (Including Decorating Your Home). Begin With the End In Mind.

Empty rooms are full of possibilities. Creativity motivates us to fill the void. At least in places where company will be invited to join us, that which is bare asks for cover.

Just as we know to adorn ourselves, our tastes and appreciation of style naturally guide our choices for the furnishing of the spaces we inhabit. Collective cultural wisdom likewise sets sensible guidelines for decisions: "Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy, but not expressed in fancy; rich not gaudy..."

With self-definition a comfortable habit, setting goals for expansive self-expression needed to decorate a home is easy. Collective wisdom helps us embark: "Begin with the end in mind."

The blueprints for our vision, whether formally drawn or held intuitively within, guide our steps. We know to build from the ground up. We know that an anchor prevents drifting. We know that a common precursor permits harmonization in subsequent specialization.

With that knowledge, selection of an oriental rug to put flesh on the bare bones of an empty room is an acknowledged stroke of genius. There is REALLY no better place to start.

How to Help Customers Effectively. There are many answers. Some take humanity into account.

The advice below was found while browsing a Linked-In network discussion on "How to Help Customers Effectively":

"...great strategy to ensure your message resonates with your target audience. To expand on that, it's super important to know who your buyer personas (target audience) are, and where they reside online--and offline--in order to effectively reach, communicate and engage with them to drive a call to action. Do you have a marketing communications plan in place? It's also critical to have definitive and measurable marketing goals and objectives--and part of that circles back up to knowing who and where your buyers are...and through which channels you will reach them."

It sounds like a lot of dehumanizing gibberish with "relationships" based upon success in behavioral conditioning of "target audiences" to properly respond to buzzword calls to action -- to adopt the parlance..

One of my heroes in the Bible is Nathaniel, said by the Lord to be an Israelite "in whom there is no guile." "NO GUILE": that's the best character trait for building honest relationships and truly having a heart to help customers. I doubt any human being could pass "The Turing Test" by actively engaging in trying to evaluate "buyer personas...and where they reside...in order to...drive a call to action...and through which channels you will reach them."

The next person through the doors of my store (just like all of those before and all of those yet to come) will get a "Howdy. Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to look around as much as you like. If you have questions, or need help with anything, I'm here to help in every way I can."

God forbid I should ever become a creature or machine who spends a moment trying to assess the "buyer persona" of the people I meet.

The "Shock Of The New" is actually a pleasurable experience when it is discerned that -- while the designs are not traditional -- the materials and workmanship found in these rugs are still dependably excellent.

Brandon Oriental Rugs - BrandonRugs.com - serving #BucksCounty PA and the surrounding region and counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey with sales, rug cleaning, appraisal, repair and restoration services for REAL #orientalrugs

Back in the 1990's (back before the Apple iPhone, back before "apps"; almost at the dawn of the internet - to give you a sense of how long ago), our customers in #Doylestown PA (who had just moved into a newly built home) decided to apply good sense to decisions they were then making about the furnishing and decoration of their then #newhome.

Knowing the reputation of REAL hand-knotted oriental rugs regarding durabilty, cleanability, collectability and ability to maintain value versus ALL other #floor-covering choices, our #DoylestownPA customers chose a #real #rug for a casual #familyroom adjacent to their open-floorplan #kitchen area.

Recently, (after over twenty years of daily treadmill-style wear-and-tear by the family) they asked Brandon to clean their rug and replace the fringe.

This is the hand-knotted Pak-Persian #orientalrug purchased from Brandon Oriental Rugs over twenty years ago (for which we recently completed #rugcleaning and fringe replacement.)

It is seen here #like-new, back on duty in ALL ITS GLORY in our customer's #Doylestown PA home.

[Though the original fringe (after a generation of use) was still in excellent condition, our customer invited us remove the natural ivory fringe - actually part of the rug's foundation - and substitute a replacement fringe coordinated with the warm tones in the rug. The result is seen in the image above.]

Brandon Oriental Rugs - #BucksCountyPA - recommends cleaning and repairing your fine quality handmade rugs to preserve like-new appearance and extend useful life.

Give your #orientalrugs some love; they're always worth at least what you paid for them.

Give them some love.

[We were invited to repair this Karastan carpet belonging to a customer but purchased elsewhere.*

We removed the old damaged fringe, and all torn areas from ends of the woven face of the rug; bound the new clean-line at the ends; and replaced the old fringe with new that matched the original.

This #rug-repair and #restoration work was much less costly than buying a new Karastan rug. The rug turned out looking as good as new.]

* - Brandon Oriental Rugs ONLY offers for sale REAL hand-knotted oriental rugs; and traditional, authentic kilims, dhurries, tapestries, and similar flatwoven rugs and textiles. We DO NOT offer for sale, promote or recommend machine-made rugs; tufted (so-called handmade) rugs; or rugs composed mostly of synthetic materials.

Brandon Oriental Rugs - BrandonRugs.com - serves the Appetite for REAL Oriental Rugs in #BucksCounty PA (and the entire surrounding region and counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey) with Professional Services That Include Sales, Rug Cleaning, Rug Appraisals, Rug Repair and Museum-Quality Rug Restoration

Brandon Oriental Rugs - #BucksCounty PA - recommends cleaning and repairing your fine quality handmade rugs to preserve like-new appearance and extend useful life. Give them some love; they're always worth at least what you paid for them.

This rug - a 10x10 square Persian Kerman - was inherited by our #WarminsterPA customer in moth-eaten condition. A significant area of the outer guard stripes of the border complex had been eaten away to a degree that made reweaving/re-knotting of the rug more costly than the rug's present market value justified.

To economically repair the rug and permit continuing use of it, we recommended cleaning and moth-proofing of the rug folowed by the removal and repair of damaged areas to restore appearance.

As seen in "before and after" images above and below, we cut away the damaged areas (rather than re-knotting them); and machine-serged the edges all around (rather than hand-binding the edges and overcasting the ends.) After the rug was serged around its entire perimeter, we replaced the fringe at the ends as shown below.

The choice of repairs selected offered considerable savings to our customer compared with what would ordinarily be sought and recommended to achieve a museum quality repair.

The rug is a little smaller than it once was, but looks remarkably good after the insult it suffered from the moths. It now is ready to be placed in a lovely new room awaiting its arrival in Florida where it promises to provide our customer many years of extended use.

Sellersville, PA Home Improvement Project Advanced with Use of Handmade Area Rug from Bucks County, PA Rug Store Brandon Oriental Rugs - www.BrandonRugs.com

A Bucks County, PA interior designer engaged the RUG-SEARCH (tm) services of Brandon Oriental Rugs (located within minutes of Doylestown, New Hope, Newtown, Lahaska, Chalfont, and Warrington) to help her advance her client's dining room redecorating project by finding a fine quality hand-knotted area rug to complement the linen and warm-gray paint colors her clients chose for their room.

The rug selected is a 9x12 hand-knotted "Silk Flower" Agra design imported from India. The style is transitional, and permits the interior designer to advance her client's plans to "update the original traditional feel of the room" without sacrificing the room's existing furnishings.

The palette of colors in the rug is exactly matched to the new paint colors and oak wood-tones; and the cool, "artic ice blue" background of the rug balances the warm color filling the room from the mass of the furnishings.
